SCHNEIDER AVENTINUS WEIZENBOCK weizen-eisbock weizeneisbock weisenbock weisen weise tap 6 german germany beer beers best price buy
SCHNEIDER AVENTINUS WEIZENBOCK TAP 6: The beer pours a hazy amber color that transitions to a bronze when the glass is half full. The off white head is thick and dense with fantastic staying power. Once the head finally begins to dissipate, evidence of it remains in both trails on the side of the glass as well lacing on top the beer. On the nose, aromas of sweet spice and fruits intermingle harmoniously with yeasty malty notes. Spice notes of clove, nutmeg and allspice almost jump out of the glass. The fruit notes are dominated by banana but also include dark fruits like plum and raisins. The yeast and malt notes combine with a hint of caramel to create an aroma of fresh baked sticky buns. On the palate, this medium to heavy bodied brew soured bready notes and lightly toasted malts make an appearance. They are joined on the mid-palate by fruit notes including banana, tart cherry and figs. The spice arrives next boasting the clove, nutmeg and allspice notes noted in the bouquet. On the finish there is a sour spice cake note that lingers with the fairly high carbonation of this beer. Aventinus shows a great deal less sweetness then many other bock beers and is complex and well balanced. It is no wonder that it received a perfect 100 or that it has been sought after for over 100 years. A great pair for braised pork or bread pudding.
